Tropic skincare review

Tropic is a cruelty-free and vegan skincare and beauty brand which offers hand made products created in Surrey, UK.

What I love about this company is that their products are natural and toxin-free. In turn, the life span of the products may be shorter than what we’re used to but each item has a use by date printed on the packaging.

The hamper I had the chance to test is a facial hamper that can be lent to anyone within the area of Surrey. Typically, a tropic representative offers a genuine facial session but if that is not your vibe, you can borrow products you fancy for a  few days and try them out yourself. Otherwise, you can take advantage of the 30 day guarantee and return the products if they do not suit you.
Delivery is available in UK and EU.  You can view all products here

Cleansers, refreshers

SMOOTHING CLEANSER COMPLEXION PURIFIER turned out to be one of my favorite products of the entire hamper. It cleansed my face thoroughly with hardly any residue leaving my skin soft and moisturized.
Let me point out that the bamboo cloth that comes with this cleanser was exceptionally pleasant to touch. It looses some of the softness after the first wash but originally it’s amazingly soft. Although you can surely use cotton pads, I put the product directly on my face, massaged it in, and washed it off with a damp bamboo cloth.
No cotton pads = no rubbish
. Works a treat.

The next product is a cherry on top of the cleansing routine. VITAMIN TONER PORE REFINING MIST  is a perfect refresher before bedtime. I also used it at home when I was walking around with no make up on, occasionally spraying it on my face and it felt so good every time. Due to all natural ingredients such as Aloe Vera, Cucumber, Rose Water, Cranberry or White Tea, the scent is very delicate and appealing.  The mister sprays out a sufficient amount of product with each pump so you’d only need one pump at a time. + Imagine a hot summer day when you’re red, sweaty, in need of something to make you feel more human. This would be very appreciated then.

Creams and scrubs

I used the SKIN REVIVE NOURISHING CREAM CONCENTRATE every morning instead of my regular face cream and I was very satisfied with the effects. Followed by a foundation, bronzer, concealer and all these shenanigans,  it kept my make up in place with my skin feeling very smooth. Perhaps due to hyaluronic acid and candelilla wax, known for plumping, hydrating and moisture locking properties.  The final outcome could be compared to having a primer on my face without the sense of multiple layers.

The Revive range caters for eyes as well due to the EYE REVIVE AGE-DEFYING CREAM CONCENTRATE which is very gentle for delicate skin. I mean – don’t we all hate products that are too thick to spread in delicate skin areas such as under eyes and eye lids?  The consistency of this product is just right. Thick enough to nourish the skin but not too thick to prevent skin stretching.  I applied it every night before bed and my eyes felt less tired in the morning as the skin around my eyes wasn’t puffy.

FACE SMOOTH BRIGHTENING POLISH is possibly the best scrub I have used so far. Tiny bamboo silica beads work effectively to exfoliate the skin by removing dead cells without damaging the skin. Oils included in the scrub such as elderflower oil, jojoba oil, mango oil or mango seed butter are really coming through and moisturize the face very well.
The first use baffled me because I was expecting a standard face scrub after which I would have to apply a serum. The polish itself left my skin soft, smooth, clean, fresh, moisturized and oily but not in a greasy kind of way. Because of the oils, moisture lasts longer than when obtained from cream based moisturizers. No additional products needed. Absolutely brilliant scrub.

Let me start with a product that I was hugely excited about because of… kale. As a must have ingredient for all vegans I thought it must be magical for my skin too. Let me tell you that this SUPER GREENS NUTRIENT BOOST SERUM definitely had a natural, herbal, raw scent. I put it on over night and although my skin undeniably soaked in all the nutrients, the scent was too strong for bedtime personally. It’s not one of these scents that last 5 seconds and go away. You know the saying – if it smells bad, it probably works? It may as well be magical for the skin but I didn’t fancy putting it on my face before bed again. On skin rescue kind of days – this could be the product I’d reach out for.

The GOOD SKIN DAY RESURFACING SERUM on the other hand, has a much more delicate scent than the nutrient booster. It aims to bring out your younger skin and  “reveal brighter, more youthful looking complexion overnight“. Great, this means we can see the effects after several hours instead of couple of days! After putting this on before bed, my morning face was bright, smooth and wasn’t oily which to me is a big bonus.  To quote the representative, ensure to apply an SPF after using this product.

For people who are looking for an age defying product I’d suggest the ORGANIC ELIXIR AGE-DEFYING FACIAL OIL  which aims to hydrate the skin, improve the tone and smoothness. After 1-2 uses I have noticed that my face was moisturized well and didn’t dry out quickly.  Once this elixir has soaked in and you have no excess oil on your face, I dare to say you can put make up on top of it. I used it a s a make up base and it worked. To add the age-defying properties to other products, this can be safely combined with other products such as the Revive skin concentrate above.

Overall, Tropic produces great, natural skincare products and most importantly is a very ethical company. Cruelty-free ingredients, no toxins, international delivery, ingredients listed in readable plain English are their key advantages. The main flaw is that some of their products can be costly but if we consider the quality of ingredients the purchase may be worth it.
Tropic has been added to my list of cruelty-free brands.
